about

JOSEPH BLACKBURN

Yeah, I know, my name isn’t Thomas or James – what’s that all about?

Filmmaking and cinema have always played an important role in my life. Who doesn’t love lounging around on a rainy Sunday night, cozying up with a film? I have a passion for filmmaking and love working with people to share their stories. My style of filmmaking is intimate but objective, and in the editing suite I work tirelessly to shape the memories made on the day into your unique story.

Family has played an important role in my decision to create Thomas James Media, with the business name chosen to honour both of my grandfathers. My main inspiration came from the creation of a short film I made documenting my father’s recovery progress after a life threatening spinal cord injury.

After gaining my qualifications as a primary school teacher, I reignited my love for filmmaking by working with students to create short films and in the process, discovered this may be a path I would like to follow for my future career. It is my vision that one day Thomas James Media will transcend simply creating films and content, in a way that combines my passion for filmmaking, and eagerness to educate young people. I would love to develop a program that I can deliver to school groups across the country, fostering a new generation of filmmakers.

I have a Diploma in Editing from Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney.

Shoot me a message and introduce yourself,
I would love to be there to document the special moments in your life, and share your story.
